Import Files

Import an existing file to the current session.

Importing any type of file into the application essentially means that the selected file is appended to any file currently open. It does not overwrite/replace the existing file. Therefore, you can use the Import option to open two (or more) files into one window.

If the current model is a discrete FE model and you try to import a CAD b-spline model, the imported model will be converted to a discrete FE model during import.

If the current model is a CAD b-spline model and you try to import a discrete FE model, the existing model will be converted to a discrete FE model during import.

  1. Import a file one of the following ways:
    • From the menu bar, select File > Import > <file type>.
    • Press Ctrl + I.
  2. If needed, define any options in the Import Options dialog then click Import.
