Refine Mesh

Use the Refine tool to split elements and optimize the mesh quality of parts and surfaces.

This tool is similar to the Edit → Split tool, however the selection in that case is very specific to element error. This tool works on a general selection.

  1. From the Discrete ribbon, click the Refine tool.

  2. Select surfaces or parts on which to split any associated elements.
  3. Enter an element size threshold.
    Any element edge in the input with a size greater than the defined value is split until the element edge is less than the defined value, keeping shape and curvature as it is. At the end of the run, all element edges will be smaller than the defined split size.
  4. Click Refine.
