RD-HM-T: 1050 Fluid Flow through Rubber Clapper Valve using HyperMesh

The objective of this tutorial is to simulate the flow of water through a rubber valve using an inlet option in multi-phase material law (LAW51).

In this lesson you will learn to:
  • Step 1: Load the initial model
  • Step 2: Define material
  • Step 3: Define property
  • Step 4: Create boundary conditions
  • Step 5: Set contact interface (rubber-fluid)
  • Step 6: Create Engine setup
  • Step 7: Export solver deck and run model
  • Step 8: Check results
  • Step 9: Create NRF boundary
  • Step 10: Define material for NRF outlet
  • Step 11: Export solver deck and run model
  • Step 12: Compare results

Model Description

In this model the top chamber is air, the lower chamber is water, and the bottom row of elements is the inlet. LAW51 is used for air, water and inlet. Boundary conditions are applied on each surface of fluid in its normal direction. An interface between fluid and rubber (CEL) is defined to manage the contact.
