.monpnt file

The .monpnt file is an OptiStruct ASCII format results file.

File Creation

This file is created when the model has at least one load monitor point (MONPNT1/ MONPNT2/ MONPNT3) defined and:
  • For linear static analysis, the .monpnt file will be generated only in the presence of the MONITOR I/O Options Entry.
  • For static aeroelastic analysis, the .monpnt file will be generated automatically.

File Content

This file contains integrated load monitor point results from linear static analysis and static aeroelastic analysis. Each monitor point section is divided up by subcase. Output for each subcase starts with a line in the following format.

File Format

The .monpnt file has the following format for each monitor point.

MONTPNT1 Output Format

Header

The following header is used:

<DOMAIN> M O N I T O R P O I N T I N T E G R A T E D L O A D S

MONITOR POINT NAME COMPONENT SUBCASE NO.
LABEL
CP X Y Z CD

Format

Loads information then is provided for each monitor point in the following format:
AXIS RIGID AIR ELASTIC REST. INERTIAL RIGID APPLIED REST APPLIED

Definitions

Field Contents
DOMAIN Denotes the output domain for the monitor point integrated loads.
STRUCTURAL
AERODYNAMIC
MONITOR POINT NAME Name of the MONTPNT1 Bulk Data Entry.
COMPONENT Output domain.
SUBCASE NO. Subcase ID referenced by this monitor point.
LABEL Label of the MONTPNT1 Bulk Data Entry.
CP Input coordinate system.
X X coordinate of the monitor point.
Y Y coordinate of the monitor point.
Z Z coordinate of the monitor point.
CD Output coordinate system.
AXIS Axis in the CD coordinate system.
CX,CY,CZ,CMX,CMY,CMZ Force and moment coefficients in the CD coordinate system.
RIGID AIR Aerodynamic load coefficients assuming that the structure is rigid.
ELASTIC REST. Aerodynamic load coefficients assuming that the structure is deformable.
INERTIAL Inertial load coefficients at the location of the monitor point.
Note: It is not applicable for the aeroelastic domain, as you do not consider mass.
RIGID APPLIED Resultant applied load at the location of the monitor point assuming that the structure is rigid.
Note: It is not applicable for the aeroelastic domain, as you do not apply the loads.
REST APPLIED Resultant applied load on at the location of the monitor point.

MONTPNT2 Output Format

Header

The following header is used:

<DOMAIN> M O N I T O R P O I N T I N T E G R A T E D L O A D S
MONITOR POINT NAME SUBCASE NO.

Format

Loads, Stress or Strain information is then provided for each element in the following format:
VALUE

EID

MONITOR POINT NAME Name of the MONTPNT2 Bulk Data Entry.
SUBCASE NO. Subcase ID referenced by this monitor point.
VALUE Magnitude of the result type.
EID Element ID.
ETYPE Element type.
CLASS Result type.
RESPONSE Item code for the corresponding result.
Note: Refer to MONPNT2 - NDDL Item Codes for more details.
LABEL Results are labeled as combination of Name and label of the MONPNT2 card

MONTPNT3 Output Format
