Equivalence

Use the Equivalence tool to find, tour, and equivalence duplicate nodes.

  1. From the Validate ribbon, click the Equivalence tool.

    Figure 1.
  2. Optional: Click and define additional options.
    1. For Equivalence at, specify where to resolve a group of coincident nodes (where the resulting single node lies).
      • Lowest id: resolves coincident nodes at the location of the node with the lowest id.
      • Mid-point: resolves all coincident nodes at the midpoint between them.
Note: This option results in a single node that does not exactly match any of the previous nodes' locations.
      • Highest id: makes all nodes within the tolerance of the node with the highest node ID equivalent with that node.
    2. For Retain, select Lowest id or Highest id to determine if the resolved node will retain the node ID of either the lowest or highest id in the group.
Note: When equivalencing at the midpoint, the node will still be moved.
  3. From the guide bar, select a type of geometry to select.
  4. In the modeling window, select geometry.
  5. Optional: Preview and equivalence individually.
    1. From the guide bar, click Review.
    2. Use the arrows on the guide bar to navigate between equivalences.
    3. Click .
  6. Click to equivalence all at once.
  7. Complete one of the following options:
    • Click to equivalence.
    • Click to equivalence and exit the tool.
    • Click to exit the tool without equivalencing.
