PARAM, COMPSHST

Bulk Data Entry Controls the transverse shear stress calculation for composite shells, (PCOMP, PCOMPP, PCOMPG) and continuum shells (PCOMPLS).

Parameter Values Description
COMPSHST <0, 1, 2>
= 0 (Default)
Transverse shear stress is determined from shear forces with respect to the two neutral axes, respectively. Only laminate direct bending stiffness is considered. Extension-bending coupling is excluded.
= 1
Transverse shear stress is determined from shear forces assuming two separate cylindrical bending modes. Laminate level extension-bending and bending compliance matrices are considered in a way that fxz does not produce τyz , and fyz does not produce τxz .
= 2
Transverse shear stress is determined from shear forces assuming two separate cylindrical bending modes. Laminate level extension-bending and bending compliance matrices are considered in a way that fxz can also produce τyz , and fyz can also produce τxz .

Comments

  1. COMPSHST is applicable to continuum shells (PCOMPLS) when there is only one element in the composite stack direction. It should not be used when there are multiple elements in the composite stack direction.
