Enclose Morph Volumes
Use the Morph Volumes: Enclose tool to create morph volumes with rectangular or circular shapes. Enclosed mesh and connectors are automatically registered to the enclosing volumes by default.
-
From the Morph ribbon, click the Morph Volumes > Enclose tool.
- Optional: On the guide bar, click to modify enclosing options.
-
Select the nodes or elements to enclose.
As you select entities, morph volumes will be created and shown in red (preview mode) using the current settings. You can keep adding/removing entities or modifying the settings and the previewed volumes will update automatically. If you click Confirm, exit the tool, or change the enclose method, then the preview mode will end, the morph volumes will be drawn in their normal color, and you can create more morph volumes. If you press Ctrl > Z or select the most recent step inside Edit > Undo from the drop-down menus, the previewed morph volumes will be discarded.
-
Select the type of volume using the drop-down menu on the guide bar.
- Global
- Creates rectangular volumes oriented to the Global Axes.
- Local
- Creates volumes oriented to a Local System.
- Best Fit
- Creates rectangular volumes oriented through the best fit of the selection.
- Symmetric
- Creates symmetric volumes relative to a plane or a pre-defined
reflective Symmetry (1-plane, 2-plane, 3-plane, or cyclical). When
using a plane, if circular is checked a cyclical symmetry will be
created and the volumes will be created about the plane’s axis,
otherwise a 1-plane symmetry will be created and the volumes will be
made symmetric to the plane.Note: The symmetry will also be used when morphing the volumes, so you can morph one part of the mesh and having that morphing applied to the symmetric parts of the mesh, unless the use symmetry links check box is cleared (See Morph.
- Draw
- Select in space the top-down corners of the volume. The depth of the volume is automatically determined from the entities within the selection.
- Drag
- Select entities (Elements, Nodes, Lines, and Morph Volumes) to serve as the faces of new morph volumes and drag the manipulator to create rows of morph volumes extending away from the faces.
- Sweep
- Select entities (Elements, Nodes, Lines, and Morph Volumes) to serve as the faces of new morph volumes, or switch to free matrix to have the faces generated automatically, and then define a path using selected Lines, Nodes, a Direction or about an axis defined using a Plane. Morph volumes will be created by sweeping the selected faces along the path.
- Add
- Creates a single Morph Volume attached to one or more existing Morph Volumes. Select one or more Morph Volume faces, and optionally the mesh to be enclosed by the new morph volume, and a new Morph Volume is fit to those faces. Only one morph volume can be added at a time using this method.
Use the Circular check box to optionally change the volume shape to circular.
When defining Local or Symmetric types using a plane, click Orient on the guide bar to orient the volumes using the Plane tool.
-
Use the microdialog to modify the number of volumes and
tangency in each direction.
Volume buffer % and the number of mid-handles can be also edited by expanding the microdialog to reveal the advanced options.
- Click Confirm on the guide bar.
